JSON Formatter+ (“we”, “our”, or “the extension”) is a Chrome browser extension designed to help developers auto-format raw JSON responses, decode JWT tokens, generate T ypeScript interfaces, and inspect live API calls locally in the browser.

Your privacy is extremely important to us. JSON Formatter+ operates strictly on a 100% local-first model. We do NOT collect, store, track, or transmit any personal data, browsing history, API payloads, or user metrics.

2. Data Collection and Transmission

  • Zero Remote Servers: All data formatting, tree rendering, JWT decoding, and TypeScript interface generation happen locally on your computer inside your browser.
  • No Analytics or Tracking: The extension does not contain any telemetry, analytics scripts, tracking cookies, or third-party advertising SDKs.
  • No Data Sharing: Because no data is collected, no data is ever sold, rented, or shared with third parties.

3. Local Data Storage

The extension utilizes Chrome’s chrome.storage.local API exclusively to:

  • Save your UI preferences (e.g., light mode or dark mode theme).
  • Temporarily cache captured API network logs for the active tab session.

All stored data remains strictly on your local device and is never sent to any external server.

4. Chrome Extension Permissions Explained

  • storage: Used to save UI settings and temporary tab API logs locally on your machine.
  • clipboardWrite: Used to let you copy formatted JSON, access paths, or TypeScript code to your clipboard with one click.
  • tabs: Used to isolate live API request logs per tab so data isn’t mixed between different websites.
  • contextMenus: Used to provide a right-click option (“Copy selection as formatted JSON”) on web pages.
  • Host Permissions (<all_urls>): Used to detect and auto-format raw JSON documents on any web address and inspect client-side API requests made by the page.

5. Single Purpose Statement

The single purpose of JSON Formatter+ is to format raw JSON pages, decode JWTs, generate TypeScript interfaces, and inspect client-side API calls directly in the user’s browser.
