SiteFind is a Chrome extension that searches a website you choose for text you specify — an old email address, a phone number, a brand name — and helps you confirm it has been removed.
The short version
SiteFind does not collect, transmit, or sell any data. Everything it reads stays on your computer. There are no servers, no accounts, no analytics, and no third parties.
What SiteFind reads
To do its job, SiteFind reads the text of web pages:
- The page you are on, when you click Scan this page or Detect from this page.
- Other pages on the same website, only when you choose Entire website and grant Chrome’s permission prompt for that specific domain.
That text may contain personal information, such as email addresses and phone numbers, because finding those is the extension’s purpose.
What happens to it
It is matched against your search terms in your browser and then stored on your own device using Chrome’s local storage, so you can review results and re-check them later. Specifically, SiteFind stores:
- Your search terms and scan settings
- Scan results: the pages checked and the matching text found
- Your appearance preferences
None of this leaves your device. SiteFind has no backend. The only network requests it makes are to the website you asked it to scan, in order to read that site’s own pages.
What SiteFind does not do
- It does not send your data anywhere.
- It does not use analytics, tracking, advertising, or crash reporting.
- It does not share or sell data to anyone.
- It does not read pages in the background. Scanning only happens when you start it.
- It does not use your cookies or logged-in session when fetching pages (requests are made with
credentials: "omit"), so private or signed-in content is not collected.
Permissions, and why each is needed

Website access is optional and per-domain. It is never requested at install time, and scanning a single page does not require it.
Crawling behaviour
When scanning an entire website, SiteFind reads that site’s robots.txt and skips any paths it disallows, respects Crawl-delay, limits itself to a few requests at a time, and stays on the domain you chose.
Deleting your data
Clear individual scans, or all of them, from the extension’s History screen. Removing the extension from Chrome deletes everything it has stored.
Children
SiteFind is a tool for website owners and editors. It is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top will be updated.
